Madrid (Spain), 23 May (LaPresse) – Real Madrid has confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti will leave the club at the end of the season. It had been known for some time that the Italian coach, who will become Brazil's national team coach, and the Spanish club would part ways, but Real had not yet released an official statement on the matter.
‘Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti have reached an agreement to end his time as coach of Real Madrid,’ the statement read. ‘Our club wishes to express its gratitude and appreciation to a man who is a true legend of both Real Madrid and world football.’ Madrid will pay tribute to Ancelotti tomorrow during the last La Liga match, which will see the Merengues face Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabéu. Luka Modric, one of the stars of Ancelotti's great Real Madrid side, will also be given a send-off on the same occasion. ‘Carlo Ancelotti will always be part of the Real Madrid family,’ said Florentino Pérez. ‘We are incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to count on a coach who has helped us achieve so much success, but who has also embodied the values of our club in such an exemplary manner,’ he added.
