Milan, June 5 (LaPresse) – The Central Electoral Commission has deemed eight candidacies eligible for the Presidency of CONI, ahead of the National Elective Council on June 26 in Rome. The candidates are Duccio Bartalucci, Luciano Buonfiglio, Franco Carraro, Mauro Checcoli, Pierluigi Giancamilli, Carlo Iannelli, Giuseppe Macchiarola, and Luca Pancalli. The Commission excluded the candidacies of Saimon Conti and Ettore Thermes due to lack of requirements. The Commission stated: "Considering that the candidacy of Dr. Franco Carraro is deemed eligible and meets the requirements established by the current CONI Statute, in light of the official note received on June 3, 2025, from the CONI supervisory authority, and since this matter requires a primary normative interpretation which is not within its prerogatives, it refers any further and final evaluation on the merits to the competent higher decision-making bodies of the previous procedure if activated, as provided by the electoral regulations approved by the CONI National Council on December 17, 2024."
