Milan, June 7 (LaPresse/AP) – Cristiano Ronaldo says he is almost certain he will not participate in the Club World Cup. The Portugal captain confirmed that he had received “several” offers from participating clubs to play for them in the tournament, which begins on June 14, but that he had decided not to accept any of them. “You have to think about the short, medium and long term,” Ronaldo said. “It's pretty much a done deal that I won't be participating in the Club World Cup, but I've received several invitations,” he added. The 40-year-old spoke in Munich on the eve of Portugal's Nations League final against Spain. Infantino suggested last month that Ronaldo, who is still under contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr until the end of June, could move to one of the 32 clubs participating in the Club World Cup, thanks to a unique transfer window created for the tournament. He has been linked with several teams participating in the Club World Cup, including Brazilian side Palmeiras. A move to Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr's city rivals and the only Saudi team to qualify, has also been mooted as a possible solution, allowing Ronaldo to compete in the competition alongside his longtime rival Lionel Messi, who plays for Inter Miami.
