Rome, June 8 (LaPresse) – Carlos Alcaraz wins Roland Garros title, repeating last year’s success.
The Spanish player, ranked No. 2 in the world, defeated Jannik Sinner in the final after over five and a half hours of play, winning in a dramatic super tie-break in the fifth set with a score of 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2). Alcaraz saved three match points in the fourth set against the Italian, who suffers his first defeat in a Grand Slam final. For Alcaraz, this is his fifth career Slam title. Italy's dream of winning the Roland Garros, a title that has eluded it since 1976, slips away once again.
