Rome, 14 June (LaPresse) – The Italian men's volleyball team suffered its first defeat in the 2025 VNL, losing 1-3 (17-25, 22-25, 25-19, 24-26) to Olympic champions France. At the Centre Videotron, the French team showed greater consistency at crucial moments in the sets, allowing them to close out the match in the fourth set and secure their first victory in the VNL. Luca Porro was the top scorer of the match with 18 points, followed by Romanò with 17 for the Azzurri. Italy faced France again after their defeat in the semi-finals of the Olympic Games in Paris. Five players from that Olympic match took to the court in Quebec City: Giannelli, Romanò and Sanguinetti for Italy; Clevenot and Faure for France.
