Milan, June 18 (LaPresse/Ap) – Bitter debut for Jasmine Paolini, the only Italian player in the ‘Berlin Tennis Open’ (WTA 500 – prize money €925,661) held on the grass courts of the Lawn-Tennis-Turnier-Club “Rot-Weiss” in Berlin. The 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca, ranked No. 5 and the fourth seed, who entered directly into the second round, lost against Tunisian Ons Jabeur, No. 61 WTA, winner of this tournament in 2022 and two-time Wimbledon finalist (2022 and 2023), who entered the draw as a lucky loser and won in two sets with a score of 6-1, 6-3.
