Milan, June 24 (LaPresse) – Nico Williams is taking all necessary steps to finalize his departure from Athletic Bilbao to join Barcelona. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana club will pay his release clause, estimated at 58 million euros plus 4 million in bonuses, to secure the talented Spanish winger who would reunite with Lamine Yamal at the club, forming a fantastic duo for the Spanish national team. Williams has already informed the San Mamés club of his intention to terminate the contract signed on December 1, 2023, to start a new chapter at Barcelona.
The Catalan club will pay the release clause amount to Bilbao’s coffers, but not before July 1 or 2 for accounting reasons: Barça intends to charge the payment of 58 million euros plus inflation adjustment to the 2025/26 financial year, which begins on July 1.
