Rome, 3 July (LaPresse) – Diogo Jota, a 28-year-old Portuguese footballer who played for Liverpool, died this morning in a car accident in the province of Zamora in Spain. Marca reports that the accident occurred at kilometre 65 of the A-52, near the town of Sanabria. The footballer was travelling with his brother André, 26, also a professional footballer with Penafiel in Portugal. According to initial reports, the vehicle in which the two footballers were travelling left the road and subsequently caught fire. Liverpool footballer, former Atlético Madrid player Diogo Jota, 28, joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton for £44.7 million. Since then, he has played 182 games for the Reds, scoring 65 goals and providing 26 assists. During this time, he won three titles with the Reds: one Premier League (2024-25), one FA Cup (2021-22) and one League Cup (2021-22).
