Rome, 14 July (LaPresse) – The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, having considered the favourable opinions expressed by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Sports Minister Andrea Abodi, has decided to propose to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella the granting of Italian citizenship – “for special merits” – to Donte Michael DiVincenzo, a professional basketball player of US nationality, pursuant to Article 9, paragraph 2, of Law No. 91 of 5 February 1992. For the Italian-American guard, who played his last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, this opens the door to a possible call-up to Gianmarco Pozzecco's national team ahead of this summer's European Basketball Championships.
