Rome, 20 July (LaPresse) – The exertions of Wimbledon are taking their toll and Jannik Sinner, fresh from his victory in London, will miss the Masters 1000 in Toronto. The Canadian tournament announced this on its social media profiles. In addition to Sinner, Novak Djokovic and Jack Draper have also withdrawn, the latter due to injury. ‘Sinner and Djokovic have been forced to withdraw from the 2025 National Bank Open in Toronto to recover after Wimbledon,’ reads the social media post. In 2024, the Canadian Open was exceptionally played in Montreal and was the last tournament that saw the Italian defeated – in the quarter-finals by Rublev – in a match that was not a final. Alcaraz would therefore have the chance to gain several points on Sinner, having not participated in the event last year. Despite being on the entry list, however, the Spaniard's presence in Canada is by no means certain. In 2023, Sinner won his first Masters 1000 tournament in Canada, defeating Alex de Minaur 6–4, 6–1 in the final.
