Rome, July 25 (LaPresse) – “Gregorio Paltrinieri underwent a double surgical procedure at the Sassuolo hospital, performed by the orthopedic team led by Professor Giuseppe Porcellini. Specifically, an elbow arthroscopy was carried out with the removal of an intra-articular screw from a previous fracture, which occurred in August 2024 at the end of the Olympic Games, followed by a cartilage graft,” the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) wrote in a statement.
“During the same operation, Dr. Stefano Manzieri also performed a reduction of the fracture at the base of the third phalanx of the fourth finger of the left hand, sustained during the 10 km race in Singapore. The estimated recovery time for full functional rehabilitation and return to training is 6–8 weeks,” the statement added.
