Milan, 25 July (LaPresse) ā The draw has been made for the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers, the Masters 1000 tournament in Toronto scheduled to take place on hard courts at Sobeys Stadium (prize money $9,193,540). Due to absences, there are now four Italians among the top seeds: Lorenzo Musetti (3), who has never been among the top four in a Masters 1000 draw; Flavio Cobolli (13); Lorenzo Sonego (28) and Matteo Arnaldi (32). In this first edition with 96 players, all the top 32 seeds have a bye and will therefore start directly in the second round. Arnaldi, ranked 44th in the world, reached his first Masters 1000 semi-final last year in this tournament (although it was played in Montreal). After his bye, he could make his debut against Brazilian Joao Fonseca and then face the number 1 seed, Germany's Alexander Zverev, in the third round. Also in the first quarter is Luciano Darderi, ranked 46th in the world, who will start against a qualifier in the match that will determine the first opponent in the tournament for Daniil Medvedev, seeded 10th and champion in Toronto in 2021. Musetti is the highest seed in the second quarter of the draw. The Carrarese player could make his debut against China's Juncheng Shang. The first seed he is likely to face is American Alex Michelsen (26). Musetti is in the round of 16 with Tomas Machac (16) and in the quarter-finals with Casper Ruud (8). There is only one Italian in the third quarter, the new Top 20 player Flavio Cobolli (18 ATP), who will make his debut against Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech or Canadian Alexis Galarneau. A rematch against Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is in the draw and beat him in the Hopman Cup final, is possible in the third round. Cobolli is in the round of 16 against Ben Shelton, the highest seed in this quarter (4), which also includes Frances Tiafoe (7).Bellucci, ranked 63rd, spoke to SuperTennis about his rock ānā roll tennis on the eve of his departure for North America. The 24-year-old from Busto Arsizio will play in the first round against France's Hugo Gaston (99), who beat him in their only previous meeting at the ITF M15 in Piombino in 2019. The winner will face Andrey Rublev, the second highest seed in this quarter after Taylor Fritz (No. 2 in the draw). The winner of this match will be Lorenzo Sonego's possible opponent in the third round, who, after a bye, will face the winner between Czech Vit Kopriva and Chinese Buyunchaokete. Also in this section is Matteo Gigante, who is in the draw thanks to a wild card. Ranked 127th in the world, he will play Borna Coric (90) in the first round, whom he has never faced in his career. The winner of this match will be the first opponent of Canadian Gabriel Diallo, seeded 27th.
