Milan, 31 July (LaPresse) – Alex Michelsen, world No. 34, caused the first major upset of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (ATP Masters 1000 – prize money $9,193,540) by eliminating third seed Lorenzo Musetti in the third round. An excellent opening set was not enough for the Italian, ranked 10th in the world, as the American (seeded 26th) won 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-4 on his seventh match point.Musetti's streak of four consecutive quarter-finals in the “1000” tournaments, which he had achieved between the Miami Open and the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, thus comes to an end. For Michelsen, who secured his second career victory over a Top 10 player, this will be his first appearance in the last 16 of a tournament of this level.
