Milan, Aug. 3 (LaPresse) – No chance for Fefè De Giorgi’s Italy in the final of the Men's Volleyball Nations League. In Ningbo, China, a dominant Poland swept the Azzurri with a decisive 3-0 win (25-22, 25-19, 25-14). Italy can still take pride in reaching their first final and claiming their first silver medal in the new Nations League. For Poland, it’s their second gold in the men’s VNL after their victory in 2022. In the third-place match, Brazil defeated Slovenia 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19). Led by captain Simone Giannelli and coached by Ferdinando De Giorgi, the Azzurri climbed the second step of the podium at the Beilun Sport and Arts Centre, at the end of a long journey that began on June 11 in Quebec City, Canada, continued in Chicago and Ljubljana, and ended today with a silver medal in the Finals in China. Unfortunately, the Italians were unable to repeat their strong performances from the quarterfinal against Cuba and the semifinal against Slovenia. On the other side of the net, Poland, after a hard-fought first set, fully controlled the game in the second and third sets to claim the final victory.
