Lausanne (Switzerland), Aug. 11 (LaPresse) – Crystal Palace has lost its appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against its exclusion from the UEFA Europa League due to violations of UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules. UEFA had sanctioned the English club, which qualified for the Europa League as FA Cup winner, because American investor John Textor, who held 43% of Palace shares last year, is also the owner of Olympique Lyonnais, another Europa League qualifier. As a result, Crystal Palace has been demoted to the Conference League, with Nottingham Forest taking its place in the Europa League.
