Milan, August 28 (LaPresse) – “There is a desire to bounce back. The defeat against Cremonese was unexpected — with a bit more focus on the goals we conceded, we could have brought home a game in which we had several chances. Tomorrow we have the chance to make up for it. Lecce plays fast football and is very well organized, and playing there is never easy,” said Milan coach Max Allegri at the press conference on the eve of the match against Lecce at the 'Via del Mare' stadium.
“As for the open transfer window? By now we are used to the last-minute situations. The club is in charge of the market, and they are trying to bring in players who can help the team grow and be in the best possible shape and league position by March. We are angry about the defeat to Cremonese and we need to keep working,” Allegri added.
“Gimenez? Santi is currently the only striker we have. I’ve known him for twenty days — he’s a good player and we expect a lot from him. As for the team still being a work in progress, we need to work daily, watch the team and players grow — they are strong and full of potential. We need to improve on last season’s standing, and we have six months to do it.”
Finally, a word on the transfer window: “We’ve spoken with the club. The club knows where the opportunities are. I’m here to work and coach the players I have. I’m happy with the squad because there is real talent, and we must work. As for synergy with management — I talk with Furlani, Tare, Ibra, and Moncada. The priority is to maintain sustainability. Tomorrow we have a very tough match, and the rest will be up to the club.”
