Rome, 29 August (LaPresse) – Defeat in its debut for the Italian national team at the European Basketball Championships. The team led by coach Gianmarco Pozzecco was defeated in Limassol by Greece with a score of 75-66 (22-12; 14-20; 20-13; 19-21). Greek NBA talent Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points and was the top scorer of the evening. Nicolò Melli scored 15 points for Italy. The Azzurri will return to the court on Saturday against Georgia, which pulled off a surprise 83-69 win over Spain.
