Football, Cremonese: Vardy officially signed, one-year contract with option

Cremona, Sept. 2 (LaPresse) – Jamie Vardy is a new Cremonese player. The former Leicester striker "has signed a contract valid until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend upon the occurrence of certain conditions," reads a statement from the Grigiorossi club. One of the most well-known players in recent English football history, Vardy played 500 matches, scoring 200 goals and providing 71 assists in all competitions with Leicester. His impressive list of honours includes all the main trophies of the English top flight: a Premier League title, an FA Cup, a Golden Boot, and a Community Shield. He also finished eighth in the 2016 Ballon d’Or ranking. In the Premier League, he scored a total of 145 goals and delivered 50 assists, becoming—at age 33—the oldest player to win the Golden Boot, with 23 goals in a season.

Internationally, the 1987-born forward made his debut for England at the age of 28, scoring 7 goals in 26 appearances across Euro 2016, the 2018 World Cup (in which England finished fourth), and the qualifying matches for both competitions.
