Rome, Sept. 11 (LaPresse) – 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has decided to move his family to Greece due to increasing pressure from pro-government Serbian circles. According to the Daily Mail, Nole has enrolled his two children, 11-year-old Stefan and 8-year-old Tara, at St. Lawrence College in Athens. Djokovic is said to have purchased a house for his family in the Greek capital. Long regarded as a national hero, the Serbian athlete has been heavily criticized in recent months by media loyal to President Aleksandar Vucic after showing solidarity with the protesters. The protests erupted last December following the collapse of the Novi Sad train station canopy, which killed 16 people. Djokovic expressed support on social media for the students who took to the streets to protest, accusing the authorities of corruption: "As a person who deeply believes in the power of young people and their desire for a better future, I believe it is important for their voices to be heard. Serbia has enormous potential, and its educated youth is its greatest strength. What we all need is understanding and respect." Nole dedicated an Australian Open victory to a student injured during the protests, attended a basketball game in Belgrade wearing a hoodie with the slogan "Students are champions," and shared images of mass gatherings with the caption "History, incredible." Serbian tabloids responded by labeling him a "fake patriot" and accusing him of supporting a so-called "color revolution."
