Milan, 15 September (LaPresse/Ap) – Mourning in the world of boxing: former world champion Ricky Hatton has died at the age of 46. “The Hitman”, as he was nicknamed, was found dead on Sunday at his home in Greater Manchester. Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious. The news comes two months after Hatton announced his return to boxing in December, in a professional bout against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai. Hatton won world titles in the light welterweight and welterweight divisions, challenging boxing legends such as Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. After retiring, Hatton revealed the mental health issues he faced following his retirement from the ring. He had been a Member of the Order of the British Empire since 2007.
