Milan, 16 September (LaPresse) – Italy qualifies for the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup by beating China 2-0 on home turf. The decisive point was won by Jasmine Paolini, who came back to beat Wang Xinyu 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 after a 2 hour and 53 minute battle. It was an extraordinary victory for Paolini, ranked 8th in the world, who came back from a break down in both the second and third sets against her opponent, ranked 34th. The outcome was very similar to that of the first match won by Elisabetta Cocciaretto against Yuan Yue. Italy thus continues its defence of the Billie Jean King Cup title and will face either Spain or Ukraine in the next round.
