In Manila, the French team, after a surprising defeat against Finland, were required to win their last group stage match to qualify for the round of 16 and avoid exclusion from the world tournament. They needed to beat Argentina, but the South Americans, ahead 2-0 after the first two sets, withstood France’s comeback and won the tiebreak 15-12. Argentina finishes in first place, while Finland secured second place.
