Turin, 28 September. (LaPresse) – Mourning in the world of journalism. Carlo Sassi, born in Milan on 1 October 1929, a well-known face on “Domenica Sportiva” and later on “Quelli che il calcio” for having “brought” slow-motion replays to television with analysis and replays of the most controversial refereeing incidents, has died at the age of 95. Originally an Inter fan, he eventually became a supporter of Cremonese due to his friendship with the historic Grigiorosso president Domenico Luzzara. Rai 'expresses its deepest condolences for the passing of Carlo Sassi, journalist and historic face of Domenica Sportiva. A pioneer in the use of slow-motion replays, introduced in 1967, he changed the way football and sport were reported on television,“ said the public broadcaster. 'With rigour and passion, he accompanied viewers for decades, leaving an indelible mark on the history of Italian sports journalism”.
