Milan, Sept. 30 (LaPresse) – The Italian Basketball Federation has announced a three-year technical collaboration agreement with Luca Banchi who, after being introduced today by president Giovanni Petrucci during the Federal Council meeting, is officially the new head coach of the men’s senior national team.
He replaces Gianmarco Pozzecco, who resigned at the end of the European Championship.
Banchi will be officially presented on Friday, October 3 at 11:30 a.m. in the Hall of Honour at CONI headquarters in Rome.
His debut on the Italbasket bench will take place on Thursday, November 27, when Italy faces Iceland in their first qualifying match for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, which will be held in Doha, Qatar, in two years.
