The Italian, who lost to Aryna Sabalenka in her opening match in the Graff group, was defeated in two sets by American Coco Gauff with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Paolini will play her last round-robin match on Thursday against Jessica Pegula, but it will have no bearing on her qualification for the semi-finals. Tomorrow, the Tuscan athlete will try again in doubles with Sara Errani. The Italians will take to the court at 1 p.m. in what is a real qualifying play-off against the Mertens-Kudermetova pair.
