Serie A, Atalanta–Fiorentina 2-0: former Viola man Palladino worsens Fiorentina’s woes

Milan, Nov. 30 (LaPresse) – Revenge from the former man. Atalanta, coached by Rafaele Palladino, beat Fiorentina 2-0 in the late match of the 13th Serie A round, further deepening the crisis of Paolo Vanoli’s Viola. It was Palladino’s first home league win on the Nerazzurri bench. With this result, Atalanta move up to 11th place on 16 points, while Fiorentina remain bottom, level with Verona, on just 6 points and still without a win. An entertaining first half at the New Balance Arena ended with Atalanta in front thanks to a fine and somewhat lucky goal by Odilon Kossounou. The Ivorian received the ball from De Ketelaere, unplayable for the Viola defence, and with a shot-cross he beat De Gea off the post and in. Atalanta also went close to a second with Lookman, De Ketelaere and Zappacosta, while Fiorentina, after an early chance through Piccoli, nearly equalised again with the former striker. In the second half, La Dea wrapped it up in the 51st minute with Lookman making it 2-0, smartly finishing off a header by De Ketelaere that had been saved by De Gea. Fiorentina tried with heart to get back into it, going close several times with Mandragora, Dodò and above all with Kean, who also hit the post. Atalanta in turn could have made it three, but De Ketelaere and Krstovic wasted their chances.
