Milan, 1 December (LaPresse) – The route for the 109th edition of the Giro d'Italia is currently being presented, with the start scheduled for 8 May in Bulgaria and the finish in Rome on 31 May 2026. The first three stages of the race will all take place abroad, in Bulgaria, with the last stage finishing in the capital Sofia. Already in the second week, with stages in Calabria, Basilicata, Campania and Abruzzo, there will be finishes on the seafront in Naples and uphill on the Blockhouse in Abruzzo. The route includes a 40.2 km individual time trial, the “Bartali Stage” in Tuscany. Then come the great mountains of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta. In the final, decisive week, there will be more mountains with a crossing into Switzerland, then the Alps of Trentino and the Dolomites in Veneto with the Passo Giau (2,223 metres), which will be the Cima Coppi of this edition of the Giro. The grand finale will be in the capital, Rome, for the eighth time, with the now traditional finish.
