Milan, Dec. 9 (LaPresse) – “Dear diary… When these things happen, you realize that everything else is superfluous.” This is how a long post by Federica Pellegrini begins, in which she recounts a night of fear with her young daughter Matilda, who was hospitalized in Verona with a very high fever. “It’s the third time this has happened, and each time it feels like losing years and years of life in fright! Febrile convulsions, her temperature rises quickly; this time she was sleeping, so we didn’t give her paracetamol immediately, and after a minute she went into a seizure… Eyes rolling back, head backward, and her breathing gradually stopped… We woke her up after a very short time (though it felt like forever) with a wet towel, trying to lower her temperature,” recounts the former swimming champion. “My mother sang all the nursery rhymes she knew on the way to the hospital to keep her awake, and here we are… since yesterday… Papa came straight from Poland (her husband Matteo Giunta, ed.) running, and we are here for her… waiting to go home. As soon as she feels better, we will of course carry out all necessary check-ups, and hopefully this won’t happen again, my heart,” concludes Pellegrini, posting a photo showing her lying on the hospital bed with her daughter.
