Skiing, World Cup: Odermatt fastest in Val Gardena downhill training, Paris third

Rome, Dec. 16 (LaPresse) – The long Dolomites stage of the Ski World Cup opens under the sign of Marco Odermatt: the Swiss skier recorded the best time in the first downhill training run in Val Gardena, an official test ahead of the two races scheduled for Thursday (the rescheduled Beaver Creek event) and Saturday. Twelve months after last year’s victory, Odermatt completed his first run on the Saslong in 2:03.68, finishing 72 hundredths ahead of Austrian Daniel Hemetsberger. Right behind him, in third place, was Italy’s Dominik Paris, who drew positive indications from the Gardena course, finishing 0.78 seconds behind Odermatt.
