Rome, 22 December (LaPresse) – ‘For me, just leaving the physiotherapy centre is a big step. I think I've shown my strength and dedication by putting on my skis after eight months. I'm not skiing as well as I'd like to yet, partly because I've had a fever this week. We'll see what I can do. I don't know today. I live in the here and now.’ These were Federica Brignone's words as she left the Quirinale after receiving the Italian flag from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. ‘To compete in the Olympics, I have to be in good shape. That's my only focus right now,’ added Brignone, who emphasised her role as flag bearer: ‘I think I deserve it more for my sporting achievements than for what happened to me afterwards.’
