Rome, 10 January (LaPresse) – Lorenzo Musetti enters the history books of Italian and world tennis. With his three-set victory 6-7(3) 7-5 6-4 against Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals of the ATP 250 in Hong Kong, the Italian tennis player reaches fifth place in the ATP world rankings. For the first time since 1973, when the ATP introduced computerised rankings, Italy has two players in the top five in the world in singles. Musetti is the third Italian in the Top 5 in the computerised ranking era after Adriano Panatta, who entered the world's top 5 on 10 August 1976, and Jannik Sinner, who reached the Top 5 for the first time on 2 October 2023.
