Australian Open: Djokovic reaches final, Sinner defeated in fifth set

Turin, 30 Jan. (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner lost in the fifth set of the Australian Open semi-final against Novak Djokovic. The Serbian tennis player won with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in four hours and 12 minutes of play. In the final, scheduled for Sunday, Djokovic will face Carlos Alcaraz, who in turn defeated Alexander Zverev in the fifth set after a marathon match lasting over five hours. Sinner, who saved two match points in the fifth set only to then commit a fatal backhand error, is thus forced to relinquish the Melbourne Slam title, which he won in the last two editions.
