Milan-Cortina, women’s downhill training interrupted: Goggia sixth and Brignone seventh

Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno), Feb. 7 (LaPresse) – After a long interruption, the jury decided to stop the women’s Olympic downhill training in Cortina due to poor visibility. The 23 athletes who still have to start will do so without timing from the Grande Curva. Before the stop, American Breezy Johnson had set the best time in 1'37"91, ahead of Germany’s Kira Weidle-Winkelmann by 21 hundredths and her compatriot Lindsey Vonn by 37 hundredths. As for the Italians, Sofia Goggia was the best with the sixth fastest time of the day (+0"86), just ahead of Federica Brignone in seventh place at 93 hundredths. Laura Pirovano also made the top ten, ninth at just over one second. Fifteenth place for Elena Curtoni, sixteenth for Nicol Delago.
