Rome, 7 February (LaPresse) – Barcelona has also decided to leave the Super League project, now supported only by Real Madrid. In a statement, the Catalan club announced that it had ‘formally notified the European Super League Company and the clubs involved today of its withdrawal from the European Super League project’. The original plans for the Super League envisaged 12 of Europe's most prestigious clubs announcing their intention to create a new 20-team elite tournament. These included Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Juventus, Milan and Inter.
