Milan, 7 February. (LaPresse) – Superb performance by the Italian team in the free dance of the team event at the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina. To the notes of Giorgia's song “Diamanti”, Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri thrilled the audience at the Milano Ice Skating Arena, finishing in second place with a score of 124.22, accompanied by the roar of the crowd. The Italian pair showed almost perfect technical solidity, achieving level four on almost all the elements performed; the only slight drops in the score came from the sequence of turns on one foot and the circular step sequence. Only the two American champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates, reigning world champions, did better with a score of 133.23. In third place in this event was the Canadian pair Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha with 120.90 points. In the overall standings, the United States remains in the lead with 44 points, ahead of Japan with 39. Italy is third with 37 points, ahead of Canada in fourth with 35.
