Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno), 8 February (LaPresse) – Lindsey Vonn's Olympic dream at the Milan Cortina Games fades after just a few metres. The American champion took a nasty fall as she brushed against the second gate, about 12-13 seconds into the race, in the downhill currently underway at Olympia delle Tofane. Vonn, 41, returned to competition last year to prepare for the Olympics but had already injured herself in recent weeks in the Crans Montana downhill, suffering a cruciate ligament rupture. The most acclaimed by the public at the start, silence fell in the stands when she slipped.
