Milan-Cortina: Franzoni fastest in combined downhill ahead of three Swiss athletes

Bormio (Sondrio), 9 February (LaPresse) – At the end of the downhill race valid for the men's combined event at the Milan-Cortina Games, Giovanni Franzoni set the fastest time on the Stelvio slope with 1'51"80, ahead of the three Swiss athletes Alexsis Monney, Marco Odermatt and Franjo von Allmen, winner of Saturday's free race, by 17, 28 and 42 hundredths of a second respectively. Dominik Paris was fifth, 59 hundredths behind. Mattia Casse was tenth, while Florian Schieder was eliminated for a collision. In the combined event, Franzoni is paired with Alex Vinatzer, Paris with Tommaso Sala, and Casse with Tommaso Saccardi. The slalom and medal ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.
