Bormio (Sondrio), Feb. 11 (LaPresse) – “Angry? No, there’s no point in being angry; you have to evaluate the situation objectively. I’m happy with how I approached the race today because I was really nervous. The start wasn’t like the downhill, but I went all out immediately, and in the end I was first at three out of four intermediates, if not ahead. It’s a shame because just one intermediate was enough to create a big gap, 35 hundredths from the podium, and losing six at one intermediate stings a bit,” said Giovanni Franzoni in the mixed zone, sixth in the Super-G at the Milano Cortina Games. “In these conditions, I knew I wasn’t the favorite; the snow became much softer. The course was very straight. You just need to stay a bit more on the edges, a bit less in position, and you lose that little bit of speed that makes such a difference. But I’m happy with how I’m skiing. Now the goal is to keep evolving as an athlete and become competitive in all situations, whether soft snow, hard snow, straight courses, or more angled ones,” he added. “I can only take my hat off to von Allmen because he had a legendary week. Three gold medals at his first Olympics is truly incredible; he deserves it because he’s a great guy, a fantastic athlete. He has been a big inspiration for me,” concluded the Italian skier.
