Milan-Cortina, TAS rejects appeal by Ukrainian athlete Heraskevych

Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno), 13 February (LaPresse) – The Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected the appeal filed by Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych, who was disqualified by the IOC from the men's skeleton competition at the Milan-Cortina Games for choosing to wear a commemorative helmet with photos of Ukrainian athletes who died in the war. In a brief statement, the CAS said that the sole arbitrator who examined the case had no choice but to adhere to the IOC's policy on what athletes can say on the field of competition and that the “commemorative helmet” worn by Heraskevych at the Milan-Cortina Games would not have been in line with the rules that athletes must follow.
