Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno), 14 February (LaPresse) – Pietro Sighel is immediately eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 1500 metres short track at the Milan-Cortina Games. It was an unlucky heat for the Italian skater, who ended up on the ground following the fall of Ukrainian Handei caused by Dutchman Emons, who was subsequently disqualified. Handei was automatically reinstated in the semi-finals by the jury, while Sighel was eliminated amid much regret. The other two Italian competitors, Luca Spechenhauser and Thomas Nadalini, advanced to the semi-finals.
