Milan-Cortina: biathlon, France wins women's relay, Italy eleventh

Anterselva (Bolzano), 18 February (LaPresse) – Italy's biathlon team disappoints in the women's relay at the Milan-Cortina Games. The quartet composed of Hannah Auchentaller, Dorothea Wierer, Michela Carrara and Lisa Vittozzi did not go beyond eleventh place. It was an uphill battle from the start for the Italian team, who were inaccurate at the shooting range in the opening stages with Auchentaller – fast on skis, however – but above all with Wierer, who was forced to take a penalty lap, as was Carrara. With the race now compromised, it was up to Vittozzi – who avoided wasting precious energy ahead of Saturday's mass start – to finish the relay 3'54‘7 behind the winning nation, France, which triumphed clearly ahead of Sweden, silver at 51’3, and Norway, bronze at 1'07"6.
