Milan, 15 March (LaPresse) – Pisa beat Cagliari 3–1 in a match counting towards the 29th round of Serie A. These are three crucial points for the Tuscan side, who now draw level with Verona on 18 points at the bottom of the table, seven points adrift of safety. It was the first Serie A win for Pisa’s Swedish manager Oscar Hiljemark. For Cagliari, however, it was a crushing defeat that risks seeing Pisacane’s side slip back into the relegation zone. In the first half, Pisa took the lead through a penalty scored by Moreo in the 9th minute, before the Tuscan side were reduced to ten men following Durosinmi’s sending-off in the 37th minute. In the second half, the Tuscan side doubled their lead in the 52nd minute through Caracciolo in a scramble inside the six-yard box. Two minutes later, Pisa made it three, again through Caracciolo, who turned the ball in from close range following a scramble from Aebischer’s corner. In the closing stages, Cagliari pulled one back in the 67th minute through the ever-reliable Pavoletti, but it was already too late to try and get back into the game, not least because, with less than ten minutes remaining, the Sardinians were also reduced to ten men following Obert’s sending-off.
