Turin, 18 March (LaPresse) – It’s now official: Davide Nicola is no longer the manager of Cremonese. The defeat suffered on Monday evening in the league’s relegation battle against Fiorentina (4-1) proved to be the manager’s undoing. “U.S. Cremonese announces that it has relieved Mr Davide Nicola of his duties as head coach of the first team,” reads a statement from the Grigiorossi club, which “wishes to thank the manager and his staff for the professionalism, commitment and dedication shown in their daily work since their arrival in Cremona”. After an excellent start to the season, the Lombardy side have plummeted down the table, picking up just one point from their last five matches. Cremonese currently find themselves in the relegation zone with 24 points from 29 matches, three points behind Lecce, who are currently safe.
