Turin, 20 March (LaPresse) – Sassuolo is grappling with a whooping cough outbreak that has emerged within the squad on the eve of their league match against Juventus, scheduled for tomorrow at 8.45 pm. In a statement, the Neroverdi club announced that “following tests carried out in recent days, one confirmed case of whooping cough and five cases with compatible symptoms have been identified within the squad. Those exhibiting symptoms are currently in isolation and have been under constant monitoring for the past three days by the club’s medical staff, who are applying all procedures required by current health protocols in accordance with the health authorities,” Sassuolo stated, adding that “at the same time, all asymptomatic members of the squad have been promptly administered specific prophylaxis”. The club “has already informed the Serie A League of the current situation and will continue to closely monitor developments, taking all necessary measures to protect the health of its players and staff,” the Emilia-based club concluded.
