Turin, 31 March (LaPresse) – Iran will compete in this summer’s World Cup and, despite the ongoing conflict with the United States – one of the tournament’s co-hosts – there is no Plan B envisaging a different scenario. This was reiterated by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in an interview with the Mexican broadcaster Univision. “We want them to play, they will compete in the World Cup,” Infantino assured. “There are no plans B, C or D. Plan A is the only one.” “We are living in a complex geopolitical situation, but our task is to unite,” he concluded. “We know it is a complicated situation, but we will work to ensure that Iran plays in this World Cup under the best possible conditions.” Just today, Infantino met with the Iranian players in Antalya ahead of their friendly match against Costa Rica.
