London (United Kingdom), 3 Apr. (LaPresse/AP) – Chelsea have ruled Enzo Fernandez out of the next two matches following comments he made this week on a podcast, in which he admitted he would like to live in Madrid one day, fuelling rumours of a possible move to Real. “It’s disappointing that Enzo spoke in this way; I have nothing to say about him personally, but a line has been crossed in terms of our culture and what we’re trying to build,” said Blues manager Liam Rosenior. “This isn’t a decision made solely by me, the board, the owners or the players: we’re all in agreement. The door isn’t closed on Enzo; this is a disciplinary measure. We must protect the club’s culture and, from that perspective, a line has been crossed.” The Argentine midfielder will miss the FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale and the Premier League match against Manchester City. Fernandez, who arrived in London in 2023 for a record fee of £107 million, had already admitted in recent weeks, following Chelsea’s elimination from the Champions League at the hands of PSG, that he did not know whether he would remain next season.
