Milan, Apr. 8 (LaPresse) – Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel, and 52 other riders of the Tour of Flanders are under investigation by the East Flanders Prosecutor’s Office for crossing a railway crossing with the red light on last Sunday, shortly before a train passed. This was reported by L’Équipe, noting that although the incident did not result in serious consequences or sanctions from the race organizers, Belgian authorities have not closed the case.

“Crossing a railway crossing with a red light constitutes a fourth-degree offense, the most serious category under the traffic code, which can have severe consequences. This offense poses a serious risk to the safety of the riders and others. Therefore, such offenses are punished severely,” stated the East Flanders Prosecutor’s Office, which announced in a press release the opening of an investigation after the 54 riders crossed the railway crossing just before a train passed last Sunday, 212 km from the finish. “All those responsible have been identified, and an official report is being prepared,” the Belgian prosecutor added.
