Milan, Apr. 24 (LaPresse) – “I would give a finger to play again. It was amazing.” This was said by Alessandro Nesta, legend of Lazio and Milan, during an interview with Dazn for the third episode of 'Giorgia's Secret', the original format created and hosted by Giorgia Rossi that explores the most human and authentic side of football protagonists. Speaking about today’s football, Nesta added: “Football has become slower, more boring. Too many fouls are called. There are 3-4 true champions missing. And above all leaders like Chiellini and Bonucci.” On his playing style: “I was never dirty. The only time I tried to go in hard… I broke everything,” he recalled. Nesta then spoke about his ambition: “I was obsessed… but that was real ambition. Every Sunday I checked the stats and wanted to overtake Thuram in the ball recoveries ranking.” His first major milestone as a player was winning the Scudetto with Lazio. “When I won the Scudetto I felt like the Pope. It was the moment in my life when I felt most important, fulfilling my father’s dream,” he said. On his relationship with Totti: “We faced each other for the first time when we were 8 years old, our families already knew each other, there was an incredible relationship: I never suffered him,” he admitted. Among his worst memories, the Champions League final lost in Istanbul: “One of the worst days of my life. I thought about it for months. You have to stay ready. The chance comes back. That’s what always happened to me in life. And in fact then came Athens,” he said. Finally, his bond with Milan teammates: “I lived an incredible life, with incredible brothers: when we meet again with the Milan teammates, it takes just a few minutes and the locker room is back. We act silly and laugh like kids, even now that we are 50,” he concluded.
