Milan, May 4 (LaPresse) – The women’s draw for the Italian Open, a WTA 1000 tournament scheduled on the clay courts of the Foro Italico, has been made. Jasmine Paolini, world number 9 and defending champion, will make her debut directly in the second round against the winner of the match between Romanian Jaqueline Cristian and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia. Paolini is in the section of the draw with American Coco Gauff, last year’s finalist defeated by Paolini. As for the other Italians, Elisabetta Cocciaretto will debut against a qualifier, while Lucrezia Stefanini will face Latvian Jelena Ostapenko. A qualifier awaits Italian Nuria Brancaccio, while Lucia Bronzetti will face American McCartney Kessler in her opening match. Also scheduled is the derby between Lisa Pigato and Tyra Grant, while Jennifer Ruggeri will debut against Turkish player Zeynep Sönmez. Finally, Martina Trevisan will face Australian Talia Gibson.
