Milan, 10 May (LaPresse) – A massive setback for Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan side, who were beaten 3-2 at home by Atalanta in Sunday’s late kick-off on matchday 36 of Serie A, in a match far more dominated by the Bergamo side than the final score suggests. Milan thus see their Champions League qualification, which seemed all but secured just a few weeks ago, begin to crumble. The Rossoneri will also be without Leao and Saelemakers, who are on yellow cards and suspended, for their next decisive match at Marassi against Genoa. As mentioned, the match was dominated by Palladino’s Orobici: goals from Ederson in the 7th minute, Zappacosta in the 30th and Raspadori in the 53rd allowed La Dea to pull away, whilst for the Rossoneri, Pavlovic’s consolation goal in the 88th minute and Nkunku’s penalty in the 94th were signs of a belated revival. With this result, with two games remaining, Max Allegri’s side are level on points with Roma – who won at Parma – in fourth place, remaining one point behind third-placed Juventus and just two points clear of sixth-placed Como. For Atalanta, who have nothing left to play for in the league, the only hope of qualifying for European competition next season lies in Inter beating Lazio in the Coppa Italia final.
